1. Rigging is arrangement of masts, spars, and sails on a sailing vessel. People will refer to the ropes as the running rigging and the fixed wires as the standing rigging.
This photo shows the arrangement for one of the more interesting features of the Dehler 38, the runners. The formal name is the 'running backstays' but people refer to them as the 'runners'.
The runners use up alot of rope, as they need to be let off on one side to allow the boom to go out. If anyone knows of a good way to set up the runners we would be delighted to hear from you!
